Arizona is home to some breathtaking places. In fact, there are so many, it’s hard to choose! This guide will help you decide between Seven of Arizona’s best road trip destinations.

Kartchner Caverns

Many travelers in Arizona don’t expect to find stunning caverns; however, just nine miles south of Benson is Kartchner Caverns State Park. This beautiful cave has 2.4 miles of passages through  limestone caverns that are 50,000 years old.

The Grand Canyon

No road tripper’s passport is complete without a drive to the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide and over a mile deep at its lowest point. Because of its sheer size, visitors generally have to choose between the North Rim and the South Rim of the canyon. If you’re feeling brave, try Colorado River Rafting!

Saguaro National Park

In Saguaro National Park  you’ll find hundreds of giant cacti reaching up to 45 feet high. You can also take a hike at the Douglas Springs Trail Head to enjoy a magical sunset overlooking the desert scenery.

Sedona

The red rocks and beautiful views of Sedona is something everyone must experience once in their lifetime. About two hours north of Phoenix, the drive to Sedona is hilly and picturesque. Sedona itself is known for its thriving art community and quaint, small-town vibe.

Canyon de Chelly

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located within the Navajo Nation and is surrounded by history and panoramic views. The park is not far from the four-corners border of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, making it a great road trip for those exploring any of those states.

Tombstone

Tombstone’s affinity for the Old West is apparent in everything from architecture to tourist attractions. Wyatt Earp was a notorious gambler and sheriff who took part in the famous O.K. Corral shootout. Every Memorial Day, Tombstone honors his legacy with the Wyatt Earp Days celebration. This two-day festival features staged gunfights, mock hangings and a massive chili cook off.

Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is a stunning rock formation created by millions of years of water erosion. The canyon’s wavy corridors have been featured in several nature documentaries, including Louie Schwartzberg’s Moving Art series. Throughout the day, sunshine illuminates the canyon’s 120-foot walls and throws shadows around every corner.
